William J. Prestly, Jr.
PAWTUCKET - William J. Prestly, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita A. (Pettit) Prestly.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late William J., Sr. and Margaret (Cormier) Prestly. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. William worked as a dispatcher for Gilbane Oil Co. for over 20 years until his retirement and was a member of the MORA Club of Pawtucket, LeFoyer and the Gatchell VFW Post # 306.
He leaves three daughters, Barbara Collins and April Fontaine both of Pawtucket and Susan SanSouci of North Providence; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Alfred and Francis Prestly and Theresa Cole.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 103 Pine St., Pawtucket. Interment with Military Honors will follow at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITATION will be Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Alzheimer's Association, Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906-5215 will be appreciated.
