Walter A. Foran
CENTRAL FALLS - Walter A. Foran, 93, died peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Miriam Hospital surrounded by his devoted family. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Reid) Foran for 44 years prior to her death in 1986. Walter was born in Central Falls, the son of the late Alfred and Mary (Melia) Foran and he was a lifelong resident of the Blackstone Valley. He was lineman for the Providence Gas Company for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard, serving during WWII. He was a member and Past Commander of the Eugene T. Lefebvre Post, Central Falls and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Attleboro. He loved being outdoors, especially by the ocean. Walter was a loyal Red Sox fan.
He leaves his children Martha (Paul) Gagnon of Attleboro, Mary Foran of SC, and Joseph (Gina) Foran of TX, a brother Edward Foran, a sister Claire Gamache, six grandchildren, Nicole Castro, Paul E. Gagnon, Mary Ann Bell, Richard Jones, Sandra O'Neil, Jay Foran, and Michael Foran; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Darlington Mortuary of L. Heroux & Son, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa's Church, Baltic Street, Attleboro at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours in the funeral home on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
