Two found dead after apparent murder-suicide

June 24, 2014

PAWTUCKET — Neighbors used the word “tranquil” to describe the immediate area around North Bend Street and Sanford Street. Yet that tranquility was shattered Monday night when an apparent lovers’ quarrel ended in a murder-suicide in a first floor apartment at 96 North Bend St.

According to Pawtucket Police, the department received multiple 911 calls at around 10 p.m. about a possible shooting at that address. When officers arrived at the first-floor apartment, they found two men who had suffered gunshot wounds. Both were later pronounced dead by rescue personnel and were identified as Timothy J. Robillard, 45, who lived at the apartment, and Robert Amado, 43, of 22 Plymouth St., Carver, Mass.

Major Arthur Martins said that a female, whom he declined to identify, had been involved in a relationship with Amado, but the relationship had recently ended. The woman was with Robillard in the apartment when Amado arrived and fired a gun several times through a bedroom window. He then broke into the apartment through the window and continued to fire at Robillard, striking him several times. The woman witnessed the shooting of Robillard and ran outside the apartment, Martins said.
It appears that Amado then shot himself, as a firearm was located near him, Martins said. Police found the woman a few houses down. She was shaken, but otherwise uninjured.
