PAWTUCKET – The learning curve is steep and slippery for Tolman High’s talented but inexperienced squad.

The Tigers, who started off this breakthrough Division I campaign with four wins in their first five league games, hit a wall over the past two days. First they dropped an 11-2 verdict to unbeaten North Kingstown on Thursday and then on Friday they fell to Toll Gate by an 8-5 score in eight innings.

“We were never in the North Kingstown game,” Tolman coach Craig Giarrusso admitted on Friday afternoon following the disappointing loss to Toll Gate. “But this game today, we let it get away from us. It was an uphill battle. I thought we did some good things. We just made some mistakes and gave them a few extra outs. You can’t give a good team like Toll Gate any extra chances.”
