PAWTUCKET- Terrence "Terry" E. McAloon, retired Pawtucket Funeral Director, entered into eternal life Monday at Memorial Hospital, after being stricken at home. He was the cherished father of Andrea Scanlon of Johnston.
Terry was born in Providence a son of the late Leo R. and Agnes M. (Cooney) McAloon. He lived most of his life in Pawtucket and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Terry graduated from St. Raphael Academy, class of 1962, Graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1966 and attended Bryant College. Mr. McAloon served in the US Army National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a Past President of the Pawtucket Lions Club, a member of the former ToKalon Club, the Jaycees, a member of the Memorial Hospital Advisory Board and was the co-founder of the City of Pawtucket's Oktoberfest. He had been Funeral Director in the former family business, V. J. McAloon and Son, Funeral Home of Pawtucket and Block Island for several years before retiring.
Besides his daughter and her husband Michael, he leaves 2 sisters, Sheila Lemoi of Sebastian, Fl and Nancy Murphy of Gainesville Fl; a brother, Vincent J. McAloon of Block Island. He also leaves a Granddaughter, Samantha Scanlon and a Grandson Tyler Scanlon, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
His Funeral will be held Monday, December 10, 2012 at 8:45 AM from the Charles Coelho Funeral Home, 151 Cross St. Central Falls, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, (upper church) 103 Pine St. Pawtucket at 10 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket Ave. Visitation, Sunday at the Funeral Home, from 2 until 5 PM.
