RIACLU sues Pawtucket schools

January 3, 2014

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island ACLU has filed a lawsuit against the Pawtucket School Department seeking public records regarding its high-stakes testing policy that it claims the department has withheld, but Superintendent Deborah Cylke said Thursday that it has already provided the requested information and the suit was filed “in error.”

The suit, filed in Superior Court by volunteer attorney Karen Davidson, asks the court to demand the production of the schools’ waiver policy regarding the NECAP (New England Common Assessment Program) and to impose fines and penalties on the school district as well as attorney’s fees.
