Recycling’s a big hit at Pawtucket public housing

PAWTUCKET — With the right communication and a little education (especially to the younger generation), city residents are willing to embrace recycling. One of the clearest examples is at 560 Prospect Street, where the city's largest public housing complex is recycling at an admirable 100 percent rate.

On Friday, city officials gathered with state and local representatives involved with recycling, including those from Pawtucket's private trash and recycling vendor, MTG Disposal. They were touting the fact that a recycling initiative believed to be the first of its kind in the state at a family housing complex has been accepted so fully by residents.
