Police release composite sketch of murder suspect

EAST PROVIDENCE – Police yesterday released a description and composite sketch of the man they believe shot 42-year-old shop owner Yusef A’Vant to death in his Pawtucket Avenue barbershop on Wednesday afternoon.

East Providence Police Chief Christopher J. Parella said investigators are looking for a black male believed to be in his late 30s to early 40s, who is approximately 5-foot-11 tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a camouflage jacket at the time of the shooting

Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation of Wednesday’s murder, the first the city has seen in two years.

Parella has declined comment on a possible motive, but has stated that A’Vant was targeted by the shooter.
