Police arrest 13 in major drug sweep

PAWTUCKET -- On January 18, the Pawtucket Police Special Squad culminated a long-term investigation into complaints about local drug activity with the arrests of 12 adults and one 16-year-old juvenile female.
The investigation concerned the illegal sale of marijuana, cocaine and heroin in the Pawtucket and Central Falls area. The Special Squad received assistance from members of the Central Falls Police as well as the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
According to Major Arthur Martins, this investigation took place over the course of several months and stemmed from neighborhood complaints and anonymous sources of information. He said that multiple arrest warrants were obtained for the suspects, and all of the individuals were apprehended Friday either at their homes or on the street.
About half of the suspects lived at the Galego Court housing complex on Leonard Jenard Drive, which was a focus of the investigation, Martins said.
In a press release, Pawtucket Police described the investigation as “an example of the cooperative effort between multiple law enforcement partners who collaborated and combined resources to help rid the community of dangerous illegal drugs and those persons responsible for distributing them.”
The individuals who were arrested on Friday were arraigned on Jan. 22 in District Court in Providence. Their names and their respective charges are listed as follows:
1. Adilson Barbosa, 24, of Leonard Jenard Drive, Pawtucket
• Delivery of Cocaine
• Delivery of Cocaine within a School Zone
2. Jayquan Parker, 18, of Leonard Jenard Drive, Pawtucket
• 2 counts of Delivery of Cocaine
• 2 counts of Delivery of Cocaine within a School Zone
3. Danielito Cintron, 20, of Leonard Jenard Drive, Pawtucket
• 2 counts of Delivery of Cocaine
4. Alvro Rodrigues, 31, of East Avenue, Pawtucket
• 3 counts of Delivery of Heroin
• 3 counts of Delivery of Heroin within a School Zone
5. Estivy DePina, 20, of Leonard Jenard Drive, Pawtucket
• 2 counts of Delivery of Cocaine
• Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine
6. Christopher Dossantos, 25, of Wendell Street, Pawtucket
• 3 counts of Delivery of Cocaine
• 3 counts of Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine
7. Michael Parker, 19, of Leonard Jenard Drive, Pawtucket
• Delivery of Heroin
8. Kevin DaSilva, 25, of Weeden Street, Pawtucket
• Delivery of Cocaine
• Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine
9. Evander Gomes, 21, of West Avenue, Pawtucket
• 2 counts of Delivery of Heroin
• Delivery of Heroin within a School Zone
10. Jamie Burgo, 20, of Park Street, Pawtucket
• Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
• Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
• Maintaining a Common Nuisance/Controlled Substances
• Distributing/Manufacturing Near a School
11. A 16-year-old juvenile female from Central Falls
• Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
• Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin
• Maintaining a Common Nuisance/Controlled Substances
• Distributing/Manufacturing Near a School

Two other individuals were also charged with various criminal drug offenses. They were already incarcerated at the Adult Correctional Institutions when the warrants were executed. They were also brought before District Court in Providence on Jan. 22 and are identified as follows:
12. George Goncalves, 31, of Hope Street, Pawtucket
• 2 counts of Delivery of Cocaine
• 2 counts of Delivery of Cocaine within a School Zone
13. Luis Soler, 18, of Moore Street, Central Falls
• 2 counts of Delivery of Cocaine
• Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine
All of the defendants were arraigned and held without bail with the exception of Jamie Burgo. whose bail was set at $20,000 with surety, police said. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent.
According to Pawtucket Police, this investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
