Pawtucket Relay For Life plans its 10th anniversary kick-off

January 15, 2013

PAWTUCKET – The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Pawtucket will hold its 10th anniversary kick-off rally at Plouffe’s Cup & Saucer, 267 Main St., on Monday, Jan. 28 to launch their fundraising efforts for the year. The celebration begins at 6 p.m.; the public is invited.
Over the last nine years, the Relay For Life of Pawtucket has raised about $415,000 to help in the fight against cancer. By reaching the goal of $55,000 this year, the local Relay For Life Committee will approach a half-million dollars in fundraising. To reach this goal, or to possibly go beyond to reach the $500,000 milestone, the committee is seeking as many people as possible, including those who’ve touched by the scourge of cancer, either personally or through a loved one or friend, or anyone who simply wants to see cancer eliminated in our lifetime, to get involved.
Residents who wish to participate may serve as committee members, team captains, volunteers or donors for the Relay For Life, which is slated June 21-22, 2013. Anyone interested in joining the planning committee, becoming a team captain, volunteering or just finding out more about Relay For Life is encouraged to attend the kick-off. For more information, please contact Amber Tillinghast at your American Cancer Society at 401-243-2623 or amber.tillinghast@cancer.org or visit www.relayforlife.org/pawtucketri.
