February 20, 2013

PAWTUCKET — A 15-year veteran of the Pawtucket Police Department has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman he was involved in a relationship with.
According to a statement from Pawtucket Police, during the past several weeks members of the department were made aware of domestic violence crimes involving one of its patrol officers, 40-year-old Steven Ricco.
Police say the domestic violence incidents are alleged to have occurred over the past several months. The victim was assaulted on one occasion, and Ricco was accused of behaving in a disorderly manner on other occasions. The victim did not sustain any serious injuries, according to police.
An arrest warrant was applied for and Ricco was arrested on Sunday, police said. He was arraigned before a bail commissioner on charges of one count of domestic simple assault and three counts of domestic disorderly conduct. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
According to Pawtucket Police, Ricco is currently out on sick leave and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
