John "Scottie" Allan
PAWTUCKET - John "Scottie" Allan, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis C. (Dickens) Allan for fifty-six years. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, a son of the late James and Elizabeth (McGarril) Allan, he resided in Pawtucket since 1959.
John was employed by the Rich Paper Box Company, Providence for many years until retiring in 2001. He was an avid New England sports fan; enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the DIP Club for many years.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Elizabeth M. Phillips, wife of the late Steven J. Phillips; two grandchildren, Stephanie E. Phillips and Jon R. Phillips all of Pawtucket; a great-grandson, Jordan S. Winters; three sisters, Annie McLaughlin, Agnes Walker both in Scotland and Jessie Letourneau of Seekonk and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Dickervitz, William Allan and James Allan.
His funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket. VISITATION will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 would be appreciated.
