John R. Ayers
CUMBERLAND - John R. Ayers, 80, of Cumberland, died Wednesday at home. He was the husband of Zenna (Gwozdz) Ayers. They had been married 59 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late John H. and Doris C. (Dempsey) Ayers.
Mr. Ayers was a self employed and union carpenter for many years. He was a member of the Carpenters Local #51. He enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons John R. (Joanne) Ayers Jr. of Cumberland, Bruce D. Ayers of Cumberland, Kevin (Terri) Ayers of E. Fairfield, VT; his daughter Cheryl (Peter) Gomes of Seekonk; grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late James P. Ayers.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 pm.
