Jean-Paul R. Houle
GREENVILLE - Jean-Paul R. "Jay" Houle, 82, of Austin Ave. and formerly of Cumberland passed away Wednesday in the Philip Hulitar Center, Providnce. He was the beloved husband of Ellen M. (Berthiaume) Houle, they had been married for the past 61 years.
Born in Central Falls he was the son of the late Achille and Bernadette (Sawyer) Houle. He resided in Johnston for the past three years and had resided in Cumberland for 27 years and previously residing in Central Falls.
He was the proprietor of Jays Oil Service from 1960 to 1996. He had previously worked for the Emond Oil Co. and the Potter & Johnson Co.
Mr. Houle was a U. S. Army, Korean War veteran earning the Korean War Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was also a member of the former Le Foyer Club, Pawtucket and former V.F.W. Lefebvre Post 1271, Central Falls.
Besides his wife he leaves three children, Paul A. Houle of Downingtown, PA; Elaine M. Brothers of Pascoag and Albert N. Houle of Coventry. Six siblings, Madeleine Palin of Lincoln; Andre Houle of Attleboro; Rita Houle of Johnston; Normand Houle of Central Falls; Wilfred Houle of Johnston and Roger Houle of Biloxi, MS. Also, eleven grandchildren and three great granddaughters. He was also the father of the late Robert A. Houle and Alfred A. Houle and brother of the late Eugene Houle ; Gaston Houle; Adrian Houle; Pauline Lussier and Lucille Houle.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland Burial with military honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
