Grisly crime scene in Pawtucket

December 5, 2012

PAWTUCKET — Police are investigating what has been described as a grisly scene involving two bodies found in an apartment at 125 Goff Ave. Wednesday.
According to police, officers responded to The Lofts 125 complex at around noon to investigate an incident that occurred inside one of the apartments. It has been confirmed that the dead bodies of two adults, one male and one female, were found inside one of the apartments.
Police on Wednesday were saying little about the incident, citing the ongoing investigation and notification of the victims' next of kin. A source close to the case said that the incident is believed to have been a murder/suicide stemming from a domestic dispute, but this has not been confirmed. More details are expected to be released by police later Thursday.
The Lofts 125 is an apartment complex that is part of the former Union Wadding mill. A portion of the sprawling mill property, which once produced Christmas decorations, was renovated several years ago by First National Development and turned into condominiums. With a changing real estate market, the apartments were later offered as rental units. With rents starting at $750 per month and a certain “artsy” vibe due to its urban setting, The Lofts' tended to attract younger tenants. On Oct. 13, 2010, a large fire broke out in one of the undeveloped main sections of the 150 year-old vacant mill.
