Gloria Del Papa
PAWTUCKET - Del Papa, Gloria E., of Tobie Avenue, Pawtucket passed away Wednesday, December 11th at Miriam Hospital in Providence. Gloria was born in Pawtucket on June 3, 1925 to the late Julius and Lena (Testa) Del Papa.
Gloria leaves her two nieces, Evelyn Corley of Pasco, WA and Rachel Di Schino of Everett, MA, six great nieces and nephews, seven great-great nieces and nephews, several cousins and many good friends. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Angelo and Eugene Del Papa.
Ms. Del Papa graduated from Brown University's Pembroke College in 1946 as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa organization and then received her Master's in Education Degree from Rhode Island College.
Gloria taught for 38 years in the Pawtucket School Department, retiring as Dept. Chair of English at Shea High School. She was a member of the B.V. Retired Teachers Association, R.I. Retired Teachers Association and the Pembroke College Club of Providence. Her many volunteer activities included the Amos House, Pawtucket Elementary School Winters, St. Teresa's Church, a B.V.C.A.P. Tutor and at the B.V. Emergency Food Center.
The funeral for Ms. Del Papa will be on Wednesday, December 18th at 9:00 AM from the MANNING HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 AM. Calling Hours will be from 8:30 AM in the morning. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gloria's name to St. Teresa's Church or the Blackstone Valley Emergency Food Center, 75 Benefit Street, Pawtucket, RI 02861.
