Gertrude R. Ritchotte
CUMBERLAND - Gertrude R. Ritchotte, 78, of Chimney Hill Apartments, passed away Tuesday in the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of Henry "Hank" L. Ritchotte and they had been married for 57 years.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Leonel Tanguay and Graziella Chagnon. She resided in Cumberland for the past 8 years, previously residing on Aiken Street, Pawtucket for over 40 years.
Mrs. Ritchotte was a former communicant of the Our Lady of Consolation Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She was also a member of the church's Womans Guild, Red Hat Society, and the St. Ray's Womens Auxiliary. She was an avid volunteer, at her children's school events as well as the Rhode Island Food Bank.
Among many interests, she loved to dance, perform in shows at Chimney Hill, as well as spend time with her cherished family and friends.
Besides her husband, she leaves one daughter, Diane Jasper and her husband Kenneth, of Cumberland; two sons, Michael H. Ritchotte and his wife Claire of North Carolina and Richard M. Ritchotte and his wife Deanna of New Hampshire; two brothers, Constant "Norman" Tanguay of Pawtucket and Paul Tanguay of Cumberland; two grandchildren, Amanda and Madison, one great-granddaughter, Callie, as well as several nieces and nephews, and many great friends. She was the sister of the late Gerald Tanguay.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggatt Avenue, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 PM.
