Gerard E. Lallier
PAWTUCKET - Gerard E. Lallier, 90, died peacefully on April 22, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Rhea (Fontaine) Lallier. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on Sunday, April 21, 2013. He was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Osea and Auselina (Boutin) Lallier and lived most of his life in the Pawtucket area. Gerard was a talented carpenter who worked for many local contractors and he was an annealer with the TMI Company until his retirement in 1989.
He was a World War II veteran, serving with the Third Infantry, US Army in the European Theatre and was one of the liberators of Dachau concentration camp. Gerard loved word games and found great comfort in reading his bible and listening to his religious programs on the radio.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Rene and wife Lora Lallier of Attleboro, Maurice and wife Karen Lallier in California; two sisters, Florence Nadeau of Saugus, MA, and Theresa Emond of Pawtucket; his grandchildren Chelsea Lallier of Ohio and Jeremy and wife Mary Lallier of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held in the Darlington Mortuary, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Avenue, Pawtucket. Calling hours in the funeral home on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island in his memory would be appreciated.
