PAWTUCKET - Eugene J.O. Bessette 85, passed away Tuesday July 3, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Bozek) Bessette.
Born in Pawtucket he was a son of the late Joseph and Alice (Mc Duff) Bessette. He was a life long resident of Pawtucket.
He was the owner and operator of the Gene Bessette Plumbing and Heating Co. of Pawtucket and also worked at Brown University as a Plumber.
Mr. Bessette was a WWII Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific as a Ships Cook Third Class and also a Machine Gunner during Japanese air raids. He was a member of the DAV. Gene was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the St. Johns Lodge No. One F. & A. M. of Providence and also a Shriner.
Gene was the loving father of Patricia Basiliere of Cape Coral, FL and Joseph Bessette of Attleboro. He was the brother of Alice Taylor of Bristol, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held Saturday July 7, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls with a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. CALLING HOURS FRIDAY FROM 4:00 PM TO 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Seekonk.
