CUMBERLAND - Antonio Lopes, 95, of West Barrows St. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday July 26, in The Holiday, Manville. He was the beloved husband of the late Otelinda (DaSilva) Lopes.
Born in Insua, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal he was the son of the late Lourenco and Maria Lopes. He came to this country in 1960, settling in Cumberland.
He was a laborer in the construction industry for many years until his retirement. Mr. Lopes was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland and loved his time with family and his garden. The family of Mr. Lopes would also like to thank the staff of The Holiday for their caring and compassion.
He leaves four children, Rosa Boynes and her husband Ron and Maria Desnoyers and her husband Michael all of Cumberland; Larry Lopes and his wife Laura and Gloria Potter and her husband Sam all of Pawtucket. Nine grandchildren, Stacey and Stefanie Lopes, Kelly and (Jim) Heumann, Daniel Boynes and (Danielle Plouffe), Brad and (Tonya) McCallum, Jessica McCallum, Carrie, Kristen, and Kevin Potter. A great granddaughter Emersyn Rose Heumann. He was also the brother of the late Joao, Helena, Francisco, and Emilia Lopes and Nazarra Cabo, Rosalina Pais, and Albertina Simao.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Dr., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetary, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
