Anthony V. Mangione
PAWTUCKET - Anthony V. Mangione, 81, died unexpectedly at Rhode Island Hospital on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Virginia (Castilho) Mangione for 54 years. A lifelong resident of the area, Anthony was born in Providence, the son of the late Liberato and Domenica (Galardo) Mangione. He was a baker for the Homestead Bakery for 25 years before retiring in 1993. After retirement he worked for several funeral homes where he established many friendships. He was a fine friend and colleague to many people. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife he leaves a son Anthony and his wife Georgeia Mangione of FL, a daughter Theresa and her husband Robert Bazan of Long Island, two brothers Lee Mangione of East Greenwich, Dr. William Mangione of CO, two sisters Lucia Summers of MI, and Victoria Maynard of East Greenwich. He was the loving and devoted Grandpa to Anthony III, Elizabeth, and Jack Mangione, and Stephanie, Jared, and Loghan Bazan. He was the brother of the late Michael Mangione.
His funeral will be held from the Darlington Mortuary, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church, Lawn Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Prospect Street, Pawtucket. Calling hours in the funeral home on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations in Anthony's memory to St. Anthony's Church would be appreciated.
