Amadeus J. Departhy
CUMBERLAND - Amadeus "Blackie" J. Departhy, 90, of Sanford Avenue, passed away Sunday, August 4, at the Pawtucket Skilled Nursing of Pawtucket. He was the husband of Rita T. (Bruneau) Departhy, and they had been married for the past 69 years.
Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Henry and Arzelia (Valcourt) Departhy. He was a life-long resident of Cumberalnd.
Amadeus was a United States Army WWII Veteran.
Mr. Departhy was employed as a Custodian for the Cumberland School Department for over 20 years, retiring in 1985.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Henry Departhy and his wife Karen of Pawtucket, Blanche Lawrence and her husband Jack of Cumberland, Doris R. Boucher and Jeannette "Jan" T. D'Angelo and her husband David, all of Smithfield; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Henry, Joseph and Louis Departhy, Anna Beauregard, Albina Raiche, Blanche Departhy, Mary Rose Departhy, and Sr. Mary Noella RSM (Elsie Departhy).
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday with a prayer service at 11 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow in the RI Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday from 9 to 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
