PAWTUCKET - Albertino Lourenco, 88, of Pawtucket passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Lourenco was the loving husband of Irene (Domingos) Lourenco. They had been married for 66 years. Mr. Lourenco was born in Cumberland, the son of the late Fernando Lourenco and Maria deCarvalho Albuquerque. He was a United States Army Air Corp Veteran in WWII.
Mr. Lourenco was a Lieutenant for the Pawtucket Fire Department for 33 years and served as City Sergeant for the City of Pawtucket. He also co-owned Lourenco's Valley Restaurant in Cumberland.
Besides his wife Mr. Lourenco is survived by his daughters, Carol Barros and her husband John of Pawtucket, Mary Ann Casavant and her husband Eugene of Rehoboth, MA. An only son, Augustino Lourenco of Pawtucket. He is also survived by his siblings, Alice Rebelo, Ida Mendes, Madeline Aleixo, John Lourenco and Anna Machado.
He was a founding member of the Portuguese American Citizens Committee; Portuguese Social Club of Pawtucket; The Seven Castles Club. He was past President of the Firefighters Association; the Executive Board of the International Association of Firefighters. A member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks, Pawtucket Fire Local 1261, the Lusitania Club and Band.
The funeral for Mr. Lourenco will be Friday at 9:00 am from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teeresa's Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 am. His burial will be with full Military Honors in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetary, Pawtucket.
