PAWTUCKET â Some PawSox notes to pass along as the locals close out an eight-game homestand with a matinee against Indianapolis.
-- Tuesdayâs starter was supposed to be Rubby De La Rosa, but those plans were scrapped after the hard-throwing Pawtucket pitcher tweaked a muscle in his side while throwing on flat ground on Monday.
âBetter safe than sorry with him,â said manager Gary DiSarcina. âItâs nothing to get concerned about. He came in (Tuesday) and said he felt better.â

PAWTUCKET â As radio broadcaster Paul Harvey would say, âAnd now, the rest of the story.â
Following Pawtucketâs 5-3 win over Gwinnett on Tuesday, Jose Iglesias spoke about his absence from the lineup for three straight games earlier this month, such a course of action coming on the heels of manager Gary DiSarcina pulling the shortstop in the middle of a game.

PAWTUCKET â Some PawSox notes to pass along on this Sunday:
-- Jackie Bradley Jr. is not in the lineup for the second straight day. According to manager Gary DiSarcina, the outfielder has a touch of bicep tendinitis. Bradley hasnât played in the field since the first game of Pawtucketâs eight-game home stand, which concludes Sunday against Durham. He also sat out last Sunday and Monday before returning to the lineup as the clubâs DH for the Tuesday and Thursday games (Wednesday was an off-day).

PAWTUCKET â Which Alfredo Aceves will PawSox fans get to see on Thursday night?
Will they see a pitcher who is prone to coming apart at the seams when things go south on the mound, or will the Aceves who in good times with the Red Sox made his mark as a starting and relieving option show up?
Thursday will mark Acevesâ first appearance on the rubber since last Tuesdayâs 13-0 rain-marred debacle at Fenway Park. The troubled pitcher has been in Pawtucket since last Saturday and in the eyes of manager Gary DiSarcina has been a model citizen.

PAWTUCKET â David Ortiz is resuming his rehab assignment Tuesday afternoon after two straight days of being MIA from Pawtucketâs lineup. Heâs batting third and serving as the PawSoxâ designated hitter.
His left heel heavily bandaged after going through some pregame agility drills, Ortiz sat at his locker and held court with several reporters for about eight minutes. The conversation with the Red Sox slugger started off about his health before switching over to the tragic events that marred Mondayâs Boston Marathon.

PAWTUCKET â Before anyone gets too alarmed, let David Ortiz explain what âgood soreâ means.
âGeneral soreness ⊠we did a lot today,â the Red Sox designated hitter clarified as to why he came out following three at-bats in Pawtucketâs 5-4 win over Rochester Thursday night at McCoy Stadium. âI was getting cold out there and I was getting a little sore.â

MOOSIC, Pa. â In the eyes of some, Allen Webster passed his Triple-A debut with flying colors.
As far as the promising pitcher is concerned, the fact he ended up tossing five shutout innings of two-run ball with five strikeouts and three walks doesnât paint the entire picture. Regarded as the top pitching prospect in Bostonâs minor-league system, Webster said that things could have gone better Friday night as Pawtucket rallied for its second straight win against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 9-4.

MOOSIC, Pa. â Gary DiSarcina saw enough of Allen Webster during spring training to draw the same conclusion that is undoubtedly shared by many in the Red Sox organization.

PROVIDENCE â Itâs onto the next game for the PC Friars.
Trailing 62-61 with 6:09 remaining and with two of their better players saddled in foul trouble, the Friars closed hard to secure a 77-68 win over a determined Robert Morris squad in second-round NIT action Monday. PCâs reward is a âRound of 8â contest at Baylor Wednesday. The winner of that game advances to the Final Four next week at Madison Square Garden.

PROVIDENCE â The Friars hit just one three-pointer during the first half of Mondayâs second-round NIT contest against Robert Morris, but make no mistake, it was a big one.
Showing off his range, Bryce Cotton created just enough space at the top of the key to unleash a deep trey that nestled through the net as time expired. The juniorâs make knotted the score at 34-all at the half.

Ed Cooley made it perfectly clear following Providenceâs ouster from the Big East Tournament that itâs either NIT or bust for his Friars. While some may interpret Cooleyâs choice of words â âI didnât come to Providence College to play in another basketball tournament.â â as the head coach brushing aside the CBI (College Basketball Invitational), recent history suggests that playing in a postseason event thatâs not affiliated with the Field of 68 (NCAA Tournament) or Field of 32 (NIT) does have some merit.

NEW YORK â Stop if youâve seen or heard this before, Providence fans.
Another stay in the Big East Tournament turned out to be quick and not-so-sweet for the Friars, who were taken out by Cincinnati, 61-44, Wednesday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. PC now will see if a 17-14 record is good enough to earn a NIT berth while Cincy earns a Big East tourney semifinal-round date with top-seeded Georgetown on Thursday.
