LINCOLN -- Davies Tech head coach Scott Cooper and assistant Joe Handy have spent a lot of time working on their squadâ€™s base-running skills over the past month or so, and it showed â€“ and then some â€“ on Monday afternoon.
The Patriots turned singles into doubles or more, robbed four bases and registered three runs on wild pitches to snag a 10-0 â€śmercy ruleâ€ť victory over Bishop Keough at the Daviesâ€™ diamond.
PAWTUCKET â€” Saying that it has played â€śa vital roleâ€ť in the growth of the city's downtown as an artistic, cultural and economic center, the City Council on Wednesday approved a resolution authorizing the exemption of the Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre from taxation.
The resolution, supported by an 8 to 0 vote, gives the City Council the authority to exempt the theatre from paying taxes on real property, personal and motor vehicles. The legislation will require approval from the General Assembly to take effect.
WARWICK - Nancy A. (LaFountaine) Seaton of Richmond Drive, Warwick and formerly of Yorkshire Street, Providence passed away Monday April 30, 2012 surrounded by her loving family, at the Philip Hulitar Home and Hospice Center, Providence.
Nancy was born in Pawtucket the daughter of Barbara (Thorpe) LaFountaine of Davenport, Florida and the late James LaFountaine of Pawtucket. She was the Administrative Assistant at Pawtucket Fastners for over 20 years. Nancy graduated from Tolman High School in 1974.
CUMBERLAND - Lionel J. Bibeault, 89, of Eaton Street, formerly of Old River Road, passed away Thursday in the Hebert Nursing Home, Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline (Rousseau) Bibeault.
Born in Blackstone, MA he was the son of the late Omer and Marie (Giguere) Bibeault. He resided in Cumberland for many years, previously residing in Lincoln.
Mr. Bibeault was the owner of the Crawford Door Sales of Pawtucket, and the former Country Kitchen of Cumberland for many years.
CAMP HILL, PA. - Donald Joseph Magnuski, Sr., 78, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away April 28, 2012 at Holy Spirit Hospital. Born August 21, 1933 in Providence, RI, son of the late Roman and Leona (Martin) Magnuski.
Surviving Donald are his son, Donald Magnuski, Jr. and wife Cindy; grandsons, Trevor and Clayton Magnuski; and brother, Raymond Magnuski.
A private memorial mass will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Auer Cremation Services of PA, Inc.
PAWTUCKET - Cecile D. Gemme, 95, of Pawtucket, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012. She was the wife of the late Frederick Gemme.
Born in Manville, she was the daughter of the late David and Jeannette (Favreau) Peloquin. Mrs. Gemme had lived in Pawtucket for forty years before becoming a resident of Golden Crest Nursing Home, North Providence, six years ago.
PAWTUCKET - Rene Fournier, 68, of Pawtucket, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012. He was the husband of the late Constance Fournier. Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Phillip and Eva (Caouette) Fournier. Rene was a chef at Providence College, retiring in 2004.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Fournier, a brother, Armand Fournier. a sister, Viviane Belisle, and his companion, Denise McCaffrey. He was the brother of the late Donald, Gerald and Daniel Fournier.
Anthony F. Medeiros
NORTH PROVIDENCE- Anthony F. Medeiros, "Tony", 81, passed April 29th at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the husband of Charlotte (Bruno) Medeiros. They have been married for 47 years.
He was the son of the late Anthony and Maria (Pacheco) Medeiros.
He had been employed as a truck driver for 45 years and was a member of the Teamsters, Local 251.
Tony was a Korean War Veteran; he enjoyed fishing and boxing. His greatest joy was time spent with his family.
PAWTUCKET- Kelley, Robert, 82, of Newport and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Robert and Kathleen (Ward) Kelley.
Mr. Kelley lived most of his life in Pawtucket before moving to Newport fourteen years ago. He was a shipping clerk for Geo. F. Fuller Company for forty years, retiring in 1987. He is survived by a sister, Frances Kelley and many cousins. He was the brother of the late Mary Kelley.
McCONNON, Gertrude F. (Smith), 91, of Atwood Avenue, passed away April 27th at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Conaty) Smith; wife of the late John McConnon (Ret. Pawt. P.D.); cousin of Janice M. Kennedy, Eleanor T. Perdue, Lee-anne K. Hart, Lt. Joseph P. Hart (N.Kingstown P.D.), and the late Mary Rita Wetzel and Carol A. (Wetzel) Crocker.
She had been a devoted communicant of St. Maria Goretti Church in Pawtucket.
Alfred Farnworth, Jr.
PAWTUCKET- Alfred Farnworth, Jr., 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth E. (Crocker) Farnworth.
Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Alfred, Sr. and Florence (Barker) Farnworth.
PAWTUCKET- Vincent H. Cavanaugh, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Medora G. (Charland) Cavanaugh.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James L. and Ellen J. (Kenney) Cavanaugh.
He was a World War II, US Army veteran. Vincent worked as the superintendant of the Lebanon Knitting Mill, Pawtucket; he later worked at Carol Cable, Lincoln for 10 years, until his retirement.
SCITUATE- Christine Dias-Vieira PHD, 36, of Old Plainfield Pike, passed away Friday in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of Michael Dias-Vieira.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of Vicente and Albertina Dias of Cumberland. She resided in Scituate for the past five years, previously residing in Warwick.
Mrs. Dias-Vieira was employed as a Psychologist at the RI Veteran Hospital, Providence past five years.
She was a communicant of the Our Lady of Fatima Church.

WEST WARWICK â€” Tolman High passed its latest test with flying colors.
After West Warwick had rallied for three runs in the last of the sixth inning to knot Saturdayâ€™s Division II crossover contest at 5-all, Tolman responded by pushing across the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh in an eventual 6-5 Tiger victory. Tolman improves to 8-0 in II-Central while W.W. falls to 4-2 in II-Central.

CENTRAL FALLS â€“ Police arrested one city man this week on several drug charges and are looking for his roommate for the same charges, plus additional infractions.
Members of the Central Falls Police Departmentâ€™s Special Investigative Unit executed a search warrant late Wednesday afternoon at 681 Pine St. â€”a first-floor apartment. The focus of the investigation was on Pajuan D. Draper, 23, who rents the apartment, and his roommate Dwayne E. Harley, 22, according to police.
PAWTUCKET â€” While questions linger about how some of the money will be found in the local budget to pay for part of the state-approved Transformation Plan for Shea and Tolman high schools, the School Committee on Thursday voted to approve the plan as well as the fiscal year 2013 budget proposal.
EAST PROVIDENCE- Elisa Baptista, 49, passed April 27th.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, a daughter of Virgilio Duarte and Amelia Baptista. She was the loving mom of Maiza B. DaGraca and Devin Baptista.
She is also survived by four sisters, Lucy Silva, Lucilia Silva, Maria Pendlebury "Paluca" and Maria Almeida, two brothers, Napoleao Almeida and Benjamin Duarte and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arlindo, Joel and Irma Baptista.
Angelo G. Michalopoulos
PAWTUCKET- Michalopoulos, Angelo G., 81, of Auburn St., Pawtucket, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012.
He was born in Pawtucket, the son of George and Anna (Capetas) Michalopoulos.
Angelo was a self employed barber and a long time church sextant at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Pawtucket.
