CUMBERLAND -Thomas C. Cox, 68, of Ronald Avenue, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Anne (Quinn) Cox, and they had been married for the past 47 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Donald and Jennie (DelMatio) Cox. He resided in Cumberland for the past 40 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Mr. Cox was the owner and operator of TOCO Express Inc. of Milford for the past 15 years retiring due to illness. He was previously was the owner of Star Wine Liquors of Pawtucket.
PAWTUCKET - Harry A. Miller, 71, of West Forest Avenue died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Bethany Home, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Gail (Thomson) Miller.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Harry F. and Catherine (McDade) Miller, he had lived in Pawtucket for the past 50 years.
Mr. Miller was a project manager and estimator for Donatelli Construction Company for 10 years before retiring in 1991. He previously worked for Diebold Safe Company, Mosler Safe Company, and Citizens Bank.
PAWTUCKET - Antonio Carvalho, 89 of Pawtucket died Thursday at the Scandinavian Home in Cranston. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane Rochette. Born in
Pawtucket he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Serra) Carvalho. He was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Prior to his retirement he was a Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 22 years.
Antonio is survived by his son Kevin and his wife Pat of Warwick; his granddaughters, Karisa and her fiancĂ© John of Warwick and Kaitlin of
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from the LACHAPELLE
PAWTUCKET - Raymond Vincent, 91, of Mt. Vernon Blvd, Pawtucket passed away on July 5th at the Pawtucket Skilled Nursing Center. He was the loving husband of Anna (Totoro) Vincent. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Dona and Marie (Allard) Vincent.
Before starting his career working for the Teknor Apex Corporation, Mr. Vincent served his country in the U.S. Navy during the WWII. Raymond loved to travel and was a member of the Royal Travelers as well as a lifelong member of The American Legion.
Florence, SC â€“ Irene C. (Bergeron) Allard, 95, of Florence, SC, formerly of Cumberland, passed away at home on Thursday, July 3, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Jean-Paul Allard. Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Edouard and Amanda (LaRoche) Bergeron, she resided in Cumberland for forty years before moving to South Carolina in 1990. Irene was a sales clerk at Ann & Hope, Cumberland before retiring in 1980. She leaves her daughter, Pauline R. Fowler with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, David R. Labbe in Utah, Christopher M. Labbe, Alicia R.
PAWTUCKET - Maria Leonor Lopes, 87, passed on July 6th with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Miguel Lopes.
Maria is survived by two sons, Danglares Lopes of Central Falls and Carlos Lopes of Canada, four daughters, Olga Gaudencio of Somerset, MA, Isaura Andrade of North Providence, Dilia Mello of Pawtucket and Regina Araujo of Cumberland, two brothers, Ernesto Caetano and Luis Santo Cristo, two sisters, Dilia Botelho and Liliana Rogue, all of Portugal, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Valdemar Lopes.
Charlotte M. (Bowker) Ferland, RN, 88, of Hanover Avenue, Pawtucket passed away peacefully at home on July 4th, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice J. â€śChiefâ€ť Ferland. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Fallon) Bowker.
Charlotte graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1946, before working at both Memorial Hospital and Brown University for many years until her retirement. Charlotteâ€™s greatest joys in her life were her family and her faith.
Robert E. Daigle, 71, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Bernard and Cecile (Rivard) Daigle. Robert was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a big NASCAR fan and was often called NASCAR Bob.
PAWTUCKET â€“ Virginia M. Szuluk, 95, formerly of Primrose Street passed away Thursday June 26, 2014 at the Legend Oaks Health Care Center in Katy, TX. She was the beloved wife of the late William W. Szuluk.
Born in Boston, MA she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Kathryn (Dempsey) Conway.
Before retiring Mrs. Szuluk was employed as a Copy Writer for a Catalog Co.
CENTRAL FALLS - Leonard J. H. Nadeau, â€śLennyâ€ť, 52, passed on July 2. He was the son of the late Leonard J. Nadeau and Madeleine C. (Bergeron) Nadeau. He is survived by his six sisters, Nancy Oâ€™Malley, Peggy Nadeau, Carolyn Nadeau, Connie Whalen, Julie Heineke, and Marie Johnson. He also is survived by 13 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews.
PAWTUCKET - Israel Galio, 28, formerly of Pawtucket, died as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Pasadena, California on June 23.
Born in Pawtucket son of Marta Galio and Israel Sanchez. He moved to the west coast four and half years ago.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his partner Marc Cox of Pasadena, 2 sisters, Margarita Sanchez of Pawtucket and Stephanie Galio of Central Falls; 2 brothers, Rogelio Sanchez of Central Falls and Ivander Galio of Pawtucket.
James E. Schoepfer
EAST PROVIDENCE - James E. Schoepfer, 83, of Rumford, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Audrey (Howard) Schoepfer for fifty-five years. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Otto O. and Helen L. (Mitchell) Schoepfer, he resided in Pawtucket until moving to Rumford in 2008.
Carol A. Ellis
CUMBERLAND - Carol A. (Quilitzsch) Ellis, 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert A. Ellis, Jr. Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late George and Anita (Mintel) Quilitzsch.
Carol worked as a credit and collections manager at Hasbro for many years and was the secretary of the Bear Hill Village Tenants Association. She was a longtime member of the Cumberland Beagle Club and enjoyed knitting; crocheting; crafts and needle point.
Elizabeth A. Sweetland
GRANBY, CT. - Elizabeth A. Sweetland, 93, of Granby, CT beloved wife for 44 years of the late Raymond J. Sweetland, passed away on Sunday, (June 29, 2014) in Simsbury, CT. Born in Seekonk, MA on September 30, 1920, daughter of the late David T. and Frances (Fitt) Valentine, she was raised in Pawtucket and had lived in Cheshire, CT for 41 years before moving to Granby, CT to be closer to her family eight years ago.
Mary Rosa Johnson
CENTRAL FALLS - Mary Rosa Johnson, 98, died Friday, June 27, 2014 peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Armand J. Johnson for 55 years prior to his death in 1990. She was born in Central Falls, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa (Senecal) LaVigne.
Mary worked in many local dressmaking shops as a meticulous hand-presser. She was a former member of the Central Falls Community Center, the Senior Club of Notre Dame Church and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union Local #429.
Gary S. Butler
PAWTUCKET - Gary S. Butler, 59, of Division Street, Pawtucket, entered into eternal life early Thursday morning. He was the beloved husband of the late Shelly D. (Card) Butler. He was born in Providence a son of Joan D. (Sossville) Butler-Lawrence-Napolillo of Cumberland and the late Kenneth Butler.
Gary was the office manager at Warren Tire Co. of Pawtucket for more than 30 years. He also was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS Constellation and was a motorcycle enthusiast.
Joseph A. Kotlarski
PAWTUCKET - Joseph A. Kotlarski. 67, passed away Wednesday June 18, 2014 at the St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield were he resided for the past 18 months. He was the beloved son of the late Joseph S. and Mary A. (Avizynis) Kotlarski and the stepson of the late Germaine (Boudreau - Patenaude) Kotlarski. Prior to living in North Smithfield Joseph lived in Cumberland and Pawtucket.
Before retiring he was employed at New To You and the former Building 19 of Pawtucket. He was a member of the Blackstone Valley Chapter of RIARC.
Arthur J. Letourneau
CENTRAL FALLS - Arthur J. Letourneau, 89, of Sylvian St., passed away Thursday in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. He was the beloved husband of Chang (Hui) Letourneau.
Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Leo and Adouilda (Hebert) Letourneau.
Mr. Latourneau was a U. S. Air Force veteran having served in WW II, the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. After his extensive military career he began his employment with the General Services Administration in Denver, CO retiring in 1970.
Theresa A. Nacci
PAWTUCKET - Theresa A. (Cherry) Nacci, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. She was the former wife of Edward A. Nacci of Providence. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late James F. and Sarah J. (McNulty) Cherry. Theresa was a waitress at Asquino's Restaurant, East Providence for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed bowling; playing cards; going to the casino; dancing and sing-a-longs.
