Steve J. Choiniere
CRANSTON - Steve J. Choiniere, 59, of Cranston passed away Monday at home. Born in Providence, he was a son of Martial F. and Clementine M. (Royer) Choiniere of Pawtucket.
Steve was a Mental Health Worker at the Eleanor Slater Hospital, for the State of Rhode Island. He was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and attended Roger Williams College and C.C.R.I. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved nature.
EAST PROVIDENCE â The first phase of the Forbes Street solar farm project has received preliminary plan approval from the East Providence Planning Board and is slated for construction this spring.
Final steps are in process for regulatory closure of the former landfill through approval of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Once these closure issues are finalized, construction of the first project, consisting of a three-megawatt solar array facility, will commence.
PAWTUCKET â The city administration's recent announcement that it ended fiscal year 2012 in the black is certainly good news, although a deeper look shows that this result came about because of some bold strategies as well as a little luck.
Last week, it was announced that an annual audit showed Pawtucket's municipal budget ended FY12 with a surplus of $2.7 million. A press release stated that the surplus was achieved by total revenues exceeding budgeted spending allocations, with positive revenues due to tight fiscal controls, tax receipts, interest on taxes and state aid.

LINCOLN â Head coach Jim Riel claimed back in November he was thrilled that his Lincoln High icemen had been âdemotedâ from the state's top tier to Division II.
The reason: He felt the overall talent level would give his Lions a more equal chance to compete against most teams.

PAWTUCKET - Melchert, Claire L., 84, of Burns Manor in Pawtucket died on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Mt. St. Ritas Health Center, Cumberland. She was the wife of the late Adolph Melchert. Claire was born in Groton, CT, the daughter of the late Camille and Rosedelima (Lemay) Benoit.
Helen G. Toole
PAWTUCKET - Helen G. (Gerry) Toole, 79, of Pawtucket died at home on March 11, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Austin and Mary (Horan) Toole.
Miss Toole was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy, class of 1951, and a communicant of Holy Family Parish, formerly St. Joseph's. She was a Service Representative for New England Telephone for over thirty years.
She is survived by her sister Ann K. Toole, her brother Rev. Lawrence E. Toole, sister in law Evelyn T. Toole, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was the sister of the late Austin A. Toole Jr.
William R. Lomax
PAWTUCKET - William R. Lomax, 76, lifelong resident of Pawtucket, died March 11, 2013. He was born in Pawtucket to the late Norma E. (Simmons) and Charles R. Lomax. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served for four years. He was employed by the Office Appliance Co. for thirty five years and Current Carrier for three years, retiring due to illness. He was a former member of the Saylesville Fire Department, member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where he was a former member of the United Methodist Men and a trustee.
Donald A. Lariviere
PAWTUCKET - Donald "Pop" A. Lariviere, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 11, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Delores (Gomes) Lariviere for fifty-four years.
Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Arthur and Marie (Breton) Lariviere, he resided in Pawtucket since 1959. Don was a Master Electrician at Brown University for twenty years until retiring in 1996, and previously worked in electrical construction.
Marjorie Reardon Hartnett
SEEKONK, MA - Marjorie Reardon Hartnett, 79, of Seekonk, MA died March 11, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Home & Hospice in Providence. She was the wife of Robert A. Hartnett of Stoughton, MA.
She was born the daughter of the late Edward W. Reardon and Doris Smiley Reardon. She resided in the Saylesville section of Lincoln, RI during her youth. She then moved to Pawtucket, RI and finally to Seekonk, MA. She immensely enjoyed her summer retreat at her beach in Westport, MA.
PAWTUCKET â After the City Council questioned a new $53,200-$58,800 âcommunity/business communications liaisonâ that the Grebien Administration is seeking to create, the mayorâs response last week was a letter talking about his economic development efforts.
In a letter to Council President David Moran, Grebien said his administration has made progress in economic development during the past two years.

CUMBERLAND â The Town Council last week approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Daniel J. McKee to enter into a contract agreement with Birchwood Design Group, a Providence-based landscape architecture planning and design firm chosen by the town to replace the natural grass football field at Tucker Field with synthetic turf as part of the Tucker Field Athletic Complex renovation project.

There, they discussed how they must approach their tune-up workouts before battling unbeaten and top-seeded West Warwick-Exeter/West Greenwich Co-op in the first game of their best-of-three R.I. Division III Tournament championship series; that's slated for noon Saturday at Brown Universityâs Meehan Auditorium.

Charpentier
LINCOLN- George "Pete" A. Charpentier, of Cambria Drive, passed away Sunday, March 10 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the husband of Marjorie I. (Sabourin) Charpentier, and they had been married for 25 years.
Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Rose (Gravel) Charpentier. He resided in Lincoln for the past 15 years, previously residing in Central Falls.
He was a United States Army, World War II Veteran.
Maria L. Minicozzi
CENTRAL FALLS- Maria L. (Sousa) Minicozzi, 90, of High Street, passed away Monday at home. She was the wife of the late Daniel J. Minicozzi and the late Lionel R. Sousa.
Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Drummond) Vasconcellos. She was a life-long resident of Central Falls.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland. She was an avid bowler.
Irene Godin
ALBION- Irene Godin, 97, of Albion, died Sunday morning at Oakland Grove surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Adrien Godin, Sr.
Born in St. Eugene, P.Q., Canada, she was a daughter of the late Onesime Gendron Sr. and Anna (Norman) Gendron. She was raised in Canada and came to the United States as a child and settled in Albion.
Mrs. Godin was employed at American Tourister, Berkshire Hathaway and AT Cross in Lincoln during her working years before retiring in 1980.
Mary C. Alves
CUMBERLAND- Mary C. Alves, 73 of Cumberland passed away Friday in the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Jose L. Alves.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Celestino S. and Evangalina (De JC deMatto) Paiva. She was also the step daughter of the late Marie Paiva.
She resided in Cumberland for over 40 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Mrs. Alves was employed as a credit manager for American Insulated Wire until her retirement.
Evelyn M. Arrighie
PRUDENCE ISLAND- Evelyn M. (Ducharme) Arrighie, 86, of Prudence Island and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, March 8, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick A. Arrighie.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late George L. and Eva M. (Michaud) Ducharme.
Evelyn and her late husband were the proprietors of Freddy's Fruit Stand / General Store on Prudence Island for well over twenty years. She was previously a teller at the Raynham Dog Track, and had also been employed as a telephone operator many years ago.
